Be in the Thick of It in Downtown East Village
Something you may not know about the Calgary’s Downtown East Village is that it was the site of a significant archaeological discovery – a native stone circle dating back 3,300 years was found in the East Village in 2008.
Today, Calgary's East Village is a much different place. This vibrant, highly populated neighbourhood might be the place for you if you like to be in the thick of it!
With many high rise condos and a commute to your downtown office that can not be beat, there are a lot of reasons to choose the Downtown East Village as the place to live. You are also close to entertainment, shopping, and family activities.
Usually, for a neighbourhood to be considered "up and coming", there has to be something new and big for people to be excited about. Well, East Village definitely has that. The National Music Centre is planning to move to the East Village in the spring of 2016. If you google the National Music Centre, you will see that it is an architectural feat in the making. It will be home to exhibitions, concerts, education centres, and much more.

Downtown Calgary shopping is tough to beat, and the Core Shopping Centre and Eau Claire Market are both within walking distance of the East Village.
This may seem intuitive, but it is nevertheless worth stating that the East Village’s central location allows you the best public transportation options in the city. There is immediate access to LRT and bus lines that will take you to most parts of the city. It is even possible to live car-free in this part of the city, if that’s what you are into.
As of the 2012 census, the Downtown East Village has a population of 2,782. The median income is $17,253 and 94.7% of the housing is condominiums and apartments.
